About SlidePix
35 tile puzzle
SlidePix is a version of the classic tile game known as 15 puzzle. The puzzle was invented 135 years ago and has been popular ever since. The basic concept is that you start with an image split into a grid with one tile removed. The tiles are then shuffled by randomly sliding any tile adjacent to the gap until the picture is completely muddled up, then your job is to put it back together again in the shortest time possible and with the fewest number of moves.
The grid can be any size but for obvious practical reasons SlidePix only supports grids up to 6x6 squares. The game includes sound effects and automatic high scores which can be sorted by fastest time or lowest number of moves. There is a separate scoreboard for each puzzle grid size. Currently the scoreboards are stored locally on your device but if there is enough interest I might consider implementing online scoreboards in a future version.
In case you can't see which tile is supposed to go where, there is a hints feature where you can hold down a button to see an overlay showing which tiles are in their correct positions and the correct position numbers for each tile.
The game features auto-restore in case you get interrupted by a phone call or otherwise have to close the application mid-game, and includes a detailed help file and integrated form for requesting support and providing feedback. It can be paused and muted.

Crop and resize
You can use your own photos in SlidePix from the options page (left). If you have an iPhone, you can take a picture with your phone's camera and immediately use the image taken. Alternatively, you can select an image from your camera roll or your photo library.
Once you've selected a photo you will have the opportunity to crop and resize the image using drag and pinch gestures to better suit the square puzzle format (right). You also have the default option of using a random photo each time from the included set.
Photos used in SlidePix
SlidePix comes preloaded with 25 beautiful images carefully selected from millions available under the Creative Commons licence at Flickr (well, actually 6 of them were taken by me but all of my photos are published on Flickr under the same Creative Commons licence).
